September memories

One day, before heading to Brookwood, Lucy and Max were playing with some of her dolls out on the front lawn. They sat up the blanket and brought the "kids" out in the stroller and played a game of BINGO with them - super cute!

They chose to have a picnic out there with their dolls, too, but after lunch that day, we headed to the pool. There, Lucy taught Max some of her newly learned volleyball skills - like how to hold his hands and which part of his arm to hit the ball with. They had fun playing with a beach ball.

Some soccer pics of my wild man. He loves playing soccer and has lots of fun at practices - he especially loves when they play duck-duck-goose at the end of practice. He cracks himself up when, near the end as Coach Chris is trying to make sure everyone has a turn and asks them to raise their hand if they haven't had a turn...even if he'd had a turn, he raises his hand...and Coach Chris pushes it back down...he giggle up a storm and raises is back up. Lucy and I like to call him "duck duck cheater" on the way home!

At games, he can be hit or miss - he has to be in the mood, apparently. When he's "on it," he's so good! He gets a hold of the ball and moves is so well down the field.
Other times, he can be so sensitive! There have been game days where he wakes up pumped and we arrive and he's full of energy and ready to play - and then something goes wrong. Several times, while warming up, he'll claim someone hit him "on purpose" with their arm. Like when coach tells them to run from one end of the field to the other, if the kid next to him takes off before him and brushes Max with their arm, he loses his mind...it's so weird...

One Saturday I had to be late to his game because of a work thing...by the time I got there, he was crying on the sidelines, refusing to play. He just kept saying he wanted me...but even once I was there, he never calmed down to play. One little thing goes wrong for this guy, and it's game over...

More funny sleeping pics - one morning, despite the multitude of available blankets on his bed, his legs were stuck inside of his pillow & case...kind of like a sleeping bag!

Off to school one morning!

Late one afternoon, Dave and I got tricked by J&J - we were all supposed to meet up and go to the Reds game and hang out downtown - we even got an Uber down there so we didn't have to pay to park or worry about driving home. Unfortunately, right after we bought our tickets to the game, J&J called to say they couldn't make it after all...we went to the game for a bit and had fun - then walked across the bridge back to KY for some dinner and giant beers.

Learning how to wink - with both eyes...
he used to only be able to wink with one eye but now he can do either - he's a versatile winker!

Lots and lots of friends!

Making their book fair posters! Lucy loves making a poster for the book fair each year and this year, Max wanted in on the fun. There is a poster contest - as long as the poster has all of the pertinent information, it's entered into the contest. The creators of the winning posters get free books at the school book fair!

Some of the posters that are turned in are really good and obviously have lots of help from talented parents. I tend to let Lucy work completely on her own - bringing her own vision to life. This year, she was really proud of her finished product and said, "I think I actually have a chance!" which of course broke my heart when she didn't win. But she loves seeing everyone else's posters, too - they hang them all throughout the school.

And they had lots of fun making their posters and shopping at the book fair, which is all that matters.

Picture day! Max was especially happy to be out of uniform! We made a deal - he could wear "favorite clothes" instead of "party clothes" on school picture day if he promised not to throw a fit about wearing "party clothes" the next week when we did family photos (he mostly stuck to his word).

Using up the last of the Meijer gift card she got from Great Grandpa

When Max was the Star of the Week, I got to go visit KB and do a craft with them. I was invited to come in during the morning so I wasn't going to go into work until afterward. Since we had the time in the morning, we went to Busken (aka "the donut store") before school...yum!

I got to see Max in action, filling in the classroom calendar...too cute!
Then, we all did a Halloween craft together.

T&C fun! We went to swim one day and the slides were gone! The pool looks so different without them! They've been revamping the pool area a little bit - painting the walls and adding some murals. There was a sign that said new slides are coming soon - we can't wait!

School spirit!

Out of control hair!

For my dad's birthday, we'd thought about going to check out Top Golf - but we all had so much fun at the escape room for my mom's birthday that he opted to go give that another go.

We did guys vs. gals again and tried two new rooms...and this time, us girls got SO CLOSE! We were in the midst of solving the last piece of the puzzle when time was up. At the least the guys didn't escape their room, either, so there was no gloating...
