New house!

We moved into our new house in August and got right to work making it home!
We're so excited to finally have some extra space and to be in a neighborhood where the kids have friends to play with.

We were also excited to sell our old home so quickly - but we were in a bit of a time crunch to find a new home! We obviously wanted to avoid becoming homeless but we also wanted to find something and be settled before summer ended. We knew what neighborhood we wanted to be in but we just had to wait for the perfect house to pop up...and it did!

The house is in need some updating but all of the walls in the place were white - never been painted...a blank slate for us!

At the old house, Max was in his toddler bed but still had the rail up. He decided, once we moved, that he was a big guy now  and didn't need the rail.
He spent a lot of time on the floor the first few nights after "rolling right out of there" (his words). He never woke up due to a fall, though...

The first major project we took on (besides painting) was flooring. The living room had been re-carpeted when they put the house on the market and it was a pretty shade of gray. We decided to go with it - the seller was able to give us all of the manufacturing / installation information so we ordered the same carpet for the rest of the house (playroom, up the stairs & down the hallway plus all of the bedrooms). The linoleum in the kitchen was in really bad shape - it had literally been duct taped back down in a few spots - and we chose a gray laminate hardwood for in there plus the dining room and hallway.
So much space!

First orders of business - taking down the frilly curtain and replacing the flooring
We're still on the hunt for replacement light fixtures...not loving the brass...

These kids had so much fun playing in the POD...they were sad to see it go!
Since we were getting new carpet ASAP, we didn't move much furniture into the bedrooms right away. Lucy had been living on her mattress on the floor for a while at the old house as her bed was one of the first things to go into the POD. She got so used to it, I was afraid she was going to fall out of bed once she was up high again (luckily, she did not).

Lucy's new purple room!
It's a lighter shade than her purple room at the old house
(which we found out has already been painted over)
but will look perfect with the deep purple carpet she picked out!

First family selfie at the new house!

Apparently, I am known as a very sloppy painter...which means Dave painted just about everything by himself...though he let the kids help in their rooms.

A welcome cake from one of our sweet new neighbors!
We also got welcome cookies from another neighbor...
feels so good to be in a real neighborhood with such kind people!

Another top priority was removing the many handrails...they were everywhere!
This will be a work in progress for a long time but we're loving life in our new 'hood!
