Back to school!

We went to St. Joe's a couple of days before the first day of school to meet the teacher and check out the classroom. Lucy was so excited to see her desk and see her friends...and to meet her teacher, Mrs. MacKenzie.

She had a specific hairdo in mind for the first day and luckily, I was bale to make it happen to her satisfaction.

She'd found the perfect backpack at TJ Maxx and talked me into buying the matching lunchbox - even though she already had a brand new lunch box I'd gotten her a month earlier...it was a tough decision with lots of cool choices out there but she chose the cat backpack with the flip sequins.

When she grows up, she wants to be a rock star and a teacher! Her favorite subjects are art and computer.

I always take her out to breakfast before school on the first day and this year, we went to the Cold Spring Frisch's...such a cute little second grader!
She said she had a great first day!

A couple of days later, Max had his first day of preschool (his last first day of preschool, in fact...next school year, he'll be with Lucy at St. Joe's as a kindergartner!) at Walnut Hills Academy.

He got a backpack, too, but was fine with one I picked out for him (a cool cammo Converse backpack!) - especially since he didn't use it much. He had a supply list so he did get to join in on the excitement of buying new markers and crayons and all that fun stuff - but after he transported it to school on the first day, he never used the backpack again...

When he grows up, he wants to be a daddy! His favorite "subject" is coloring.
