Max and I recently went through the car wash and he loved it! Afterward he said, "No more dirty car for us!" He has been asking almost every day since then if we can go again.

Super Saturday!
On Saturday, February 11, Coach Daddy had an indoor track meet and the kids and I had a busy day planned. They got up early, as usual, and we ate breakfast then went to the YMCA...how cute are they walking in together?!
I let Max carry my keys to the car and he was still holding them as he climbed into his seat. I had backed into my spot that day - something I rarely do - and was parked up against a fence. Maxyboy has a super-cute new habit of throwing things into the back end of my car and that day, before I could stop him, he tossed my keys into the back. Lucy looked at me in shock but then she and I burst out laughing...As Dave reminded me later, this would never happen to him because he'd never have let Max hold the keys to begin with but just imagining him being with us was making me laugh even harder! As Lucy said, "Dad would be so mad!" Since I was backed in against the fence, I couldn't open the back end of my Rav4 to retrieve the keys...the backseat is full of carseats and the back end was filled with strollers (I had all 3 of them in there at the time - umbrella, single and double) and I couldn't even see the keys, let alone reach them (and my uncontrollable laughter wasn't helping). I finally climbed basically on top of the little culprit and was able to grab them. Phew! We didn't have to walk home from the Y!
Next, we went to the library for some canvas-painting fun. These little artists had fun with that and then playing in the library.
Next, we went to lunch at - where else? - Skyline, followed by a trip to the park.
We were having a nice time at the park - we were there for a good hour and Lucy even saw a friend from Walnut Hills (the school she rides the bus to after school). The kids had fun on the swings, on the jungle gym / slides and in the tunnel. It was almost time to go home to get Max in bed for a nap but they were having fun kicking Max's ball around.
There was a huge muddy puddle behind the swings - it was out of the way of everything and we'd managed to avoid it all day with no issues. However, when Lucy was kicking the ball (pretending to be playing with Max but really, it was more of a keep-away type game on her end), she was getting dangerously close to it. I called out, "Don't kick it into the muddy puddle!"
The next thing I know, the ball is headed straight for the puddle with my son not far behind it. I am yelling, "Stop! Max, STOP! Mommy will get the ball...STOP!"
Does he stop?
NO. No, he does not (well, not until his feet went flying from beneath him and he was soaking in a puddle - head to toe).
I gotta say, I was pretty mad. I told Lucy to go straight to the car. I plucked my screaming boy from the gooey mud. I had to strip him down in the parking lot. It was already past nap time but he had to get straight in the tub when we got home (his hair was caked in stinky mud). Later, I told the story to Dave and he couldn't stop laughing. I was so mad because the kids were not listening to me but had to admit later, it makes for a pretty funny story. And it reminds us of a favorite book - Sheep in a Jeep - just like the Jeep does at one point, Max went deep in gooey mud. No pigs were around to help me get him out, though...

Another visit to Lucy's school! I attended her Valentine's Day party...they had lots of snack, then played a few games. One of the games was "Pin the lips on Mrs. Gastright" where they had a caricature-looking pic of the teacher with cut out lips the kids had to stick onto her face without looking...I thought that was very clever.
Valentine's Day was nice - I took the morning off from work and Lucy and I went to breakfast before I took her to school. I did a little shopping between dropping her off for school and her classroom party. After her party, I headed into work but had flowers from Dave waiting for me when I got there!
That night, the four of us went to LaRosas's for dinner and then back home where we gave the kids little gifts. They each got a notebook - plus crayons for him and markers for her - and a small toy - Monster High Lego for her and Imaginext Green Lantern for him.

Besties together again! Lucy and Ava (and me & Max and Ava's mom) met up at Toys R Us for a Shopkins trading event. Both girls were reluctant to trade any of their precious Shopkins but both of them ended up getting really into it! Lucy only brought about 6 to trade but Ava ended up giving her more so she could wheel & deal longer.

I said, "Let me get a picture of you in your matching shirts and they both said, "We're not wearing matching shirts!" Um.... |
