Maxyboy turned 4! - with 4 year old stats

As usual, we had a lot of fun celebrating a birthday - and as usual, we crammed in a lot of fun!
Max decided he wanted a Paw Patrol birthday party this year - it's his very favorite show and he's pretty obsessed. I bought an iron-on Paw Patrol "birthday boy" patch to put on this t-shirt and he was pretty happy with the result!

He celebrated at school with his classmates...he picked these "birthday cake" bars out at Kroger and he added a "Happy Birthday" sticker to each one. He also insisted on bringing popsicles for his pals at school so I'm sure they all had a lot of fun celebrating our Maxyboy!

Lucy & Max also made his birthday cake - such cute little bakers!

When he woke up on May 16, he was FOUR years old!

He came down and posed for some pics under the birthday banner before we got ready for our day. Lucy joined us for a birthday breakfast donut before we dropped her off at school and then my guy and I had our birthday date.

We decided to go to the Cincinnati Zoo. I like to make my kids feel extra special on their birthday and give them a day all about THEM but Max spent a LOT of time that day asking about Lucy and when we'd be picking her up from school. They really are such best friends!
He wanted me to be sure to get good pictures of him feeding the giraffe so he could show Lucy since he know how much she loves giraffes.

He climbed under the meerkat habitat to get a closer look - and a couple of meerkats seemed to want a closer look at him, too!

We rode the train and got a good look at the zebras! Then he got some cotton candy - this dude loooooooves cotton snack! Often, he'll choose cotton candy over ice cream - even if Lucy's getting ice cream.

He rode the carousel several times but kept calling it "the steering wheel."
"Mommy, can I ride the steering wheel again?"

After such a busy morning / afternoon, my little birthday boy needed a nap before we picked Lucy up from school! He also enjoyed a quick afternoon snack - his free birthday cookie from the sweet ladies at Busken! Yum!

After school, the kids decorated Maxy's birthday cake - hot blue icing (and plenty of sprinkles)!

On our way to unlock the birthday castle with the key he'd received in the mail, he opened some other mail - a card from GranJan & Grandpa. He opened it and exclaimed, "All these dollars!"

So many choices...so hard to decide!

He went with a 2-pack of Superhero bracelets / bands -
and was quite excited about it!

Next, we met up with Daddy and headed to Jump Zone for some sibling fun...they had a blast on all of the inflatables and couldn't leave without an Icee!

Then we headed home to sing to our guy and watch him blow out the candles on that beautiful blue cake!

So happy!

New Paw Patrol hat from Lucy!

That weekend, we had his Paw Patrol party - what fun! He loved all of the decorations.
He chose the menu - burgers for dinner which Troy helped make.

Her especially loved the cake and cupcakes GranJan made!

I also bought iron-on Paw Patrol patches for myself, Dave and Lucy so we could all dress on-theme, too!

The blanket from Aunt Terri & Uncle John was a favorite - a supersoft Paw Patrol blanket that required an immediate snuggle! Studly new shades from Donna & Bob were a hit, too!

Dave & I got him a plasmacar - he has them at his school and is obsessed with them! It was the second to last gift he saw and he was a very happy boy - zooming all around on it. But then GranJan and Grandpa brought out their gift...a new bike!

I didn't think he could get any happier but he sure did! He got the hang of it pretty quickly and was riding around like a madman in no time - this kid has no fear!

Pinata! He requested a pinata and insisted it be Marshall - his favorite pup! I found a Chase (the police-dog) at a few stores but had to keep searching until I found the beloved Marshall (the fire-dog).

This year, Max loved climbing! He tends to scare people with his dare-devil antics - climbing and jumping off of any and everything.

Some cute memories:
One day he was with Dave and the song "Faithfully" by Journey came on and he told Dave, "Hey, this is bedtime music!"

Profound words of 3-year old wisdom:
"When wipees dry out, they is tissues."

One day Dave said, "Congratulations!" and Max asked, "What? Congratulations to the flag?"

I once overheard Max ask Lucy if she wanted to see a magic trick. She said yes and I really wanted to see it, too, so I sneaked into the room to take a peek. He was about 3 and a half when this happened. He had two balls in his hand and says to her, "I'm gonna make these appear away!" - then he tossed the toys over his head, behind his back - Mesmerizing!

We get a note telling us a bit about his day from his school. On it, it tells us what they had for lunch. I remember one day I asked him what he had and he said burgers (his very favorite food) but then he said he didn't eat it. I was confused and asked why and he said, "Because it had chicken on it." I checked his note and it said they'd served BBQ chicken sandwiches that day...
Another time, I asked him what he had for lunch and he told me, "A sandwich with nothing on it!" I consulted his note - cheesy flatbread...guess he wasn't impressed.

Happy 4th birthday, Babyguy!
