Santa visits and St. Nick

Back in November, we had a visit with Santa and Steph of Steph Keller Photography to get some pics for our Christmas card.

When Lucy was a baby (9 months old), she was okay with Santa but ever since then...not so much. Last year, my mom and I persuaded her to stand near Santa at the mall for a picture which felt like a pretty big win. This year, we hoped for the best regarding both kids and we were really happy with the result! We talked it up for a day or two and had the kids write their letters to Santa so they were intrigued to meet him and give him their lists.

It was just a "mini session" but was handled so well - the kids got to slowly approach Santa and meet him and talk about their lists - then stick them in the mailbox - and get some great photos.

Max was a little unsure but followed Lucy's lead - he may not have smiled much but wasn't freaking out or refusing, either, which worked for us!

A couple of weeks later, we visited Santa again - at the library. I was a little afraid they were going to question why Santa looked so different (both Santas were really good ones but were obviously different) but they didn't seem to notice...

They sat on Santa's lap again and then we did a few crafts and played for a bit.

Silly Maxy thoroughly enjoys drying his hair under hand dryers in bathrooms (he's laughing in that second picture)...

A few days later, St. Nick came!
We'd hung our stocking and the kids were pumped to check in the morning - usually it's a struggle to get them up and moving for school but we had no issue on this day!

Maxy got the Imaginext Batgirl and motorcycle & Lucy got a Shopkins plush and an LOL fizzball. Both also got some candy, an electric toothbrush (Lucy got a Barbie one and Max got a Superman one), and a can of Flarp.

Lucy's really interested in LOL's (they're one of the 3 items on her Christmas wish list) and I am not entirely sure what they are - balls you open up to reveal mystery surprises...the fizzballs are actually kind of neat - she did hers from St. Nick after school. You stick the chalky ball (about the size of a golf ball) into a cup of water and it fizzes away to reveal items - charms (though I am still unsure what you're supposed to do with the charms as I have never seen an LOL charm bracelet).
