His 11 month weight is 23 pounds 12.5 ounces.
He's such a sweet baby...he's very loving and loves to cuddle and snuggle. While playing on the floor, he often climbs all over us - he just craves being close...such a sweetie!
When I ask him for hugs, he puts his arms around me and pushes his face against mine - I love this baby!
I've been trying to teach him some sign language...we had so much fun teaching Lucy and watching her learn and communicate. It's hard to remember and to take the time to do it with him in our slightly more hectic lives but he does seem to know one sign so far - and this may come as a shock from my tiny baby - "eat."
He can identify his feet when asked and we're working on his other body parts, specifically belly and nose right now.
He says mom/ma/mama and, more often dad/da but we also believe we've heard him say ball, dog, and duck.
He continues to be an expert crawler and pulls himself up onto any and everything. It used to be that whenever we would try to make/help him stand, he'd just buckle his knees and fall to his booty but lately, he's been locking those knees and holding a standing position. Several times while playing with Daddy, he's pulled himself up onto something and then let go and managed to stand for a second or two. We may have an even more mobile baby guy before we know it!
He's started climbing the steps but often climbs two and decides to turn around and (try to) sit...resulting in falling back down the two steps...
He loves balls and he loves music...he bops around and dances all of the time...Lucy was scream-singing the other day and I actually thought I heard some neighborhood dogs howling along but somehow Max recognized that it was "music" and was dancing around!
His favorite is "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and he can do the motions! He's so smart!
Max has also become very independent at meal times. He prefers finger foods so he can feed himself and gets a little angry sometimes when I attempt to spoon-feed him...
He likes bananas, spaghetti, ravioli, mac&cheese, pancakes, sausage, turkey dogs, green beans, peaches, pears, graham crackers with peanut butter...almost everything! He often refuses lunch meat that I tear up for him - I actually wonder if he just gets frustrated because it can be hard to pick up?
He loves pouches and can suck every last drop out of them! It's incredible!
I finally decided it was time to tame his comb-over so right before Easter, he got his first haircut. The kids and I went up to EJay's one Saturday morning. Because I was holding him during the cut, I had to rely on Lucy to capture the first haircut moment...she took about 37 identical photos but I'll just post the one for you folks:
She's quite the photographer, eh? I also managed to snap this one in the mirror:
He was good during the cut and was more interested in what Lucy was doing than in anything else...I actually had to ask her to stand in front of him so he'd stay still.
He's such a handsome boy with his grown-up haircut!
It looks like he's going to be a blue-eyed cutie just like his sister!
This guy can definitely be a bit mischievous. One night while Daddy was with his running girls, the kids and I ate dinner in the dining room. I had my plate on the table along with the carton of strawberries that I'd been cutting up for Max. We were about finished and I got up to help Lucy wash her hands while Max was safe in his high chair.
Yes, he was safe - but the table wasn't...
I straightened the table cloth and picked up a few things before I thought to snap this pic but while Lucy and I were in the bathroom, good old Maxyboy reached out and yanked on the tablecloth, sending my plate and strawberries everywhere...
I was taking a few deep breaths when Lucy walked in, looked around and said, "Mom, how about I clean up the fruit?" and she climbed under the table and chairs and retrieved every last strawberry...such a sweetie!
St. Patrick's Day sillies:
He still only has two chompers - the front bottom two - but it doesn't stop him...I'll bet this guy could manage corn on the cob if he really wanted to!
Sucking on a pretzel rod |
He loves playing! He loves emptying things but is actually pretty good at cleaning his messes up, too. He could sit and empty a bin and fill it back up and empty it and fill it back up for an hour!
He stole this ball from some sweet girls at President's Park last weekend |

Museum Center fun:
Again, it was difficult for me to take an 11 month photo of this wild man...here's what he thought of the "11 month" sticker I stuck to his shirt:

He's a keeper, though! He still won't drink out of a bottle (not that we've even bothered trying in the last couple of months) but is pretty good about his sippy cup (though he prefers to steal his sister's cups and watches her like a hawk - the second she sets her cup down, he's all over it which results in a screaming sister and a soggy brother...). He's sleeping pretty well and goes to bed easily (usually) at around 8:30pm.
