Lucy girl

Ava's mom got to help out at the Christmas party in Lucy's class and she text me these pictures recently...how cute are these two little best friends?!?!
They did a book exchange - Lucy took an Olaf book and she ended up with a couple of cute little books.

Lucy was invited to another birthday party for a classmate.  This time, the party was at Jump Zone.  We'd never been there before but knew it was a place filled with inflatables / bounce houses.  Lucy loves to bounce but tends to get intimidated when there are too many others bouncing so I wasn't sure how she'd do at a crowded, public, bounce house place.

We walked in and greeted the birthday girl, Morgan, and started exploring the place.  Lucy got pretty quiet and clingy and didn't want to go in any of the bouncers...we spotted an area specifically for 2-3 year olds and I had a feeling we might be spending most of our time in there:

But she took one look around and called it "the baby toys" and went off to explore the bouncers some more.  Within about 3 minutes of being there, I had a jumping fool on my hands!

She needed a little help getting up onto this one!

This was a very narrow, steep, tall ladder and she was so brave...
She's such a big girl all of a sudden!

Morgan invited the whole class!
After an hour of jumping, everyone went into the party room to eat pizza, sing "Happy Birthday," enjoy ice cream and cake, then watch Morgan open her gifts.  After Lucy finished her dessert, she hopped down off the bench and wiggled her way into the middle of the crowd on the floor to watch the gift opening.  She didn't really know or care where I was.

She's been into picking her own clothes out for school (and her own pjs each night).
Monday's outfit was kind of cool...a pair jeans my mom got her - that heart lights up - with her butterfly shirt and her cowgirl boots...she's been pretty obsessed with those lately.
Tuesday was the red dress with white leggings and boots.

This got a little crazy...grey leggings, a blue/black/white skirt, and a pink Frozen shirt (with Frozen socks).  I wasn't home at the time but I'm told she pulled on her cowgirl boots and she was good to go - to Kroger with Daddy...

It seems she shares her style with Katie:

Dance class continues to go well...I got to go to "watch week" again recently and it was fun to watch her in her "big girl" element.  The recital will be on Saturday, May 9 at 4pm and this year she will have two dances in the show!

What a sweet big sister she is!  The other day she said, "Can I hold Max?" and when I said yes, she ran over to the couch, set these pillows up and got her lap all ready...too cute!
I was afraid once he got more mobile, she'd been a little less "sweet" and would freak out when he went after her stuff but so far, not so much.  Of course she gets annoyed with him at times, but overall she's very tolerant.  She laughs it off when he takes her things and just says, "Uh, mom?" when he's pulling on her hair (usually)...
Sometimes Dave and I take her things away from him and she'll say, "It's okay, he can play with it."  Other times, she rips things right out of his hands and we're working on that.  We've talked about asking Mom or Dad for help or trying to get him to trade her for something else instead.

Dave took her bowling for the first time recently...she came home and after a little whispering from Daddy, she announced her score: "I got a 300!"  Her real score was actually pretty good, too: an 81!

She is such a little artist!  Every day after school I try to ask the right question to get some information out of her.  One day I asked, "What was the best thing that happened at school today?" and she asked, "Do you want to hear the saddest thing that happened?"
When I said yes she said, "Ty said I'm not the best artist in the class!"  I probably should have said something like "you're all the best," and I wanted to say, "Ty sucks!" but I settled on, "Maybe he just thinks your the best girl artist and he's the best boy artist" and she seemed happy with that response...

We went shopping for her valentines over the weekend...all she knew was, she wanted to pass out Skittles to her friends!  Once we found the Skittles, she had moved on - she didn't even end up picking out any actual valentine cards because her Skittles mission was over!  We did buy some Valentine's Day cupcake mix, though...but they were out of the corresponding white icing with the packet of red and pink sprinkles so we chose blue icing instead.  As we were icing them, I realized I may have made a mistake but she wasn't too messy with the decorating...or the eating...
And I even let her ice a few of them herself with her own little knife...my baby girl is growing up!

Recently, Lucy had Dave make a tent for her in the living room out of blankets and pillows.  She wanted to go turn the lights off but the path to the switch was blocked by the "tent."  She thought quick and crawled under to get to the switch and I said, "Good thing you're so good at crawling," and she said, "I'm a bit of an expert!"

She's been learning so much and so quickly lately, and she's always anxious to use the new words and phrases she's learned.  Like the other day I told her it was time to clean up her room and she started to protest and I said, "Lucy don't argue with me."  Later that evening in the car, she and Dave were going back and forth (he was teasing her and trying to get a rise out of her) and she said, "Dad, I'm going to argue with you!"  She also told him, "I'll growl at you and stuff!"

Sometimes she hears a new word and isn't quite sure what it means but wants to try it out...Last week in the car, she said, "You should get a new car."  I asked why and she said, "This one is too serious!"

Some other Lucy funnies:
She calls directions "re-structions."  As in, "Max is chewing on the re-structions to my game!"

Dave caught her jamming to herself: "Uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up!"

And Dave was trying to help her get dressed one morning and she was running around without a shirt on and pretending to be Jasmine from Aladdin.  Dave said, "Come get your shirt on!" and she said, "Jasmine doesn't wear a shirt...she just wears boobie-thingies!"
