Lucy lately

Mostly, she's a cutie and a sweetie and we can't get enough of her...but our cute sweetie has also been a little moody lately!  She has taken to yelling "No!" to us frequently and she thinks (knows?) she's the boss of us.

I think things are already changing a lot for this little lady (mommy keeps getting bigger and bigger, baby stuff keeps appearing in the house, her car seat got moved over in both cars and a new baby car seat base was installed in each, we ask her frequently about gender and names, etc.) but her world is seriously about to be rocked.  I'm also feeling so tired and worn out lately and I am not giving her as much as she was used to getting from me (time- and attention- and adventure-wise).  I am so happy / lucky / grateful / aware that Lucy has a daddy who can do everything mommy can do (except maybe fix hair!) - and can do many things better than mommy can do! - but it is track season, after all, so we've had a lot of girls nights and if I'm tired and she's moody...eek...

But last night she told a lie.  It made me pretty sad...she's still just a baby!  We were playing in the basement and she went upstairs...a moment later, she called down to me and I could hear her chomping on Sweet Tarts (there were some sitting on the counter and she'd pulled her stool over there earlier to help make dinner so it was quick, easy access).  I asked her what she was doing up there..."Are you eating candy?"
And she said no.
No giggles, no being silly.  She just lied.
I walked up and asked again and got the same answer so I asked her to open her mouth.  I gasped and said, "You lied!"  I knew she was eating candy but when I saw it and it was confirmed and she kept lying, I must say, I was a little heartbroken...
I told her lying was not good and that she can't lie to mommy and daddy...and her little lip quivered and she started to cry...and I told her to go to her room.
When I went up to talk to her about it, it was pouring down rain and she was looking out the window...talk about heartbreaking!  My tiny little girl, sad and crying, sitting on her bed and looking out a rain-soaked window...
We talked about it a little bit and she seemed like maybe she understood...?  It's so hard to know what to let her get away with and what not to and how to handle each situation...but I didn't yell and we talked about it and she said she understood and that she was sorry and then I totally dropped it and we went back to having fun...

"But I'm soooo CUTE!"

We went to Wal-Mart last week to look for something particular for the baby and to pick up some prints and she found this hat, put it on and would not take it off.  It has My Little Ponys on it.  She looked ridiculous yet cute at the same time and she really seemed to like it so I coughed up the six bucks to buy it for her...and she hasn't touched it since...

The baby insisted we go to DQ one day and Lucy got an M&M Blizzard.  At one point she dropped her spoon on the ground and Dave jumped up right away to get her a new one but she could not wait!

Super Luce!
Super cute in her shirt from Uncle Jason

Last weekend we went to the big WGRR-sponsored yard sale at Coney Island.  Lucy was such a good girl!  She had her baby and her baby's blanky and her candy bracelet to keep her company as she took in the sights.  Turns out Oldies listeners are a bunch of junk hoarders so the sale part was a bit of a bust but it was something to do and got us outside which is always a favorite Lucy activity.  After, we went to B's baseball game and then to GranJan and Grandpa's house for a grill-out with them and her uncles and Auntie Ema and Luke and Jessica...great day!

We've gotten to play outside a lot lately...woohoo!  We even got to eat our dinner outside last night before the rain came.

Looking cute this morning in her Barbie outfit she got for her birthday from Grandma and Troy:

Baby #2 update:
My doctor is back from Alaska!  Hooray!  Baby, you are now permitted to make your move!  Particularly tomorrow, Monday or next Thursday, as those are the days Dr. Lea is on call!
As of my appointment today, I am now 3 centimeters dilated and still 50% effaced...could be any day now but I guess it could still be weeks away...stay tuned!

Happy Easter!

We had a pretty nice Easter and hope you did, too!
We had a lot of fun leading up to Sunday, too.  On Thursday night the three of us colored eggs at home...fun stuff!

We were all off on Friday so we decided to head to the zoo.  Lucy was a little weird...she chose to stay in the stroller most of the day which seemed unusual.  Dave and I remember when she was still a wobbly walker but refused to be confined to the stroller...now that she's a steady walker, we couldn't get her out of the dang thing?!  She's also developed a fear of sorts to loud noises...pretty annoying...
So we had an incident in the ladies room when she had to pee but instead sat there and screamed and cried every time someone flushed or used the hand dryer...she refused to pee and I refused to leave the restroom until she peed and we were both on each other's nerves...ha...but we did manage to have some fun while we were there!  We even met Jack, the new baby camel!

And that evening, we went to Granny's house to color more eggs with her and Donna & Ashley and GranJan.

We all went to the egg hunt at the library on Saturday and had a great time there.  They do such a great job - activities before and after the hunt in addition to the hunt itself...very fun!  And it was a beautiful day so that definitely helped.
And Lucy got to see Alli which always makes her happy!

After the hunt, they brought out balls and hoola hoops so we had fun chasing her around and Dave made our sweet little girl do doggy tricks and jump through the hoop...

We finally headed home to eat lunch and take naps and then Daddy and Lucy had a date at Tower Park while I went to have the infant car seat bases installed in our cars.

Finally, Easter morning arrived and we all had to search for our baskets.  Lucy thought it was hilarious that Daddy's basket was in the dryer...and that there were beers in it!  But hers was the first one found - under a table in the basement.

And she helped us find ours before we all fully investigated the contents of our baskets.  My basket was found in the oven of her little kitchen...which also cracked her up!

She loved her new cape!

Next it was time for church
After church, we had an egg hunt out back:

Our happy girl had fun finding the eggs and taking inventory of her loot afterward.  By then it was nap time before we headed to Grandma and Troy's house.  Lucy was excited to go and was in a good mood when we left the house and in the car on the way...when we walked in, though, she was a completely different Lucy.  She was moody and rude for two thirds of our visit but finally turned her frown upside down shortly before we had to leave...ah, three year olds!  Such fun!

Next, we were off to Granny's house where she had tons of fun playing outside, finding eggs in the hunt and playing hide-and-seek with anyone who'd join her (primarily Cleo but also Brady and Charlie).

Quick Baby #2 update:
I had my most recent appointment yesterday morning with Dr. Willett.  I was happy to hear him say there was still no change - so I have now been walking around for about two weeks at 2cm dilated and baby and I have an agreement to continue waiting for Dr. Lea to get back into town!
I've gained 3 pounds...I feel like I haven't thrown up quite as much as I did with my Lucy pregnancy, though things do still pop back up now and again (most recently, Tuesday's lunch).
This babe is a little rude because he or she hates pizza...but I can't be too upset because he or she loves DQ so we've got that in common!
My next appointment is next Wednesday afternoon...with Dr. Lea!!!  Hooray!
We're getting a little more prepared - the swing is out of storage and set up, the car seat bases are installed in the cars and the baby room is completely set up.
Lucy had been saying she was getting a brother for over a month and I admit, she had me convinced!  I even started buying some boy clothing (though I haven't removed any tags and I still have receipts).  She must have sensed that I was believing her, though, and wanted to try to mess with me - ever since Sunday, she's been insisting she's getting a sister!  We'll know soon enough...it will certainly be one or the other!
Many people have been saying the baby looks like it has dropped within the past week or so...and I've thought this kid was sitting pretty low to begin with!
