Summer lovin' & July memories

In July, we went to a Reds game where ticket sales benefited Special Olympics. It was a HOT afternoon and we sat right in the sun's frying pan (aka, the bleachers) but we had so much fun!

It's always fun to hang out with friends - GranJan & Grandpa, Jason and Jessica + her parents - the Hicks family was there for a bit, too, until the heat got to them.

The kids had a lot of fun - we don't go to many baseball games so it was a new, exciting environment...but they did get a little restless in their seats. Turned out, GranJan felt a little bored herself so the three of them left (for quite a while!) to explore the park more.

We love a good festival! We met up with Auntie Ema, Luke, Ellie & GranJan one hot July evening to go to the St. Thomas festival in Ft. Thomas.

We Lucy and Max were obsessed with this one game - they had mason jars filled with candy and if you correctly guessed the correct number of pieces of candy inside, you won the whole jar. Lucy played a couple of times and was determined to win the Jolly Ranchers. Max walked right up, pointed to the jar of Now&Laters and casually mentioned a number - the exact right number! I was dumbfounded, Max was pumped...Lucy was a little annoyed...but then she ended up winning her Jolly Ranchers so all was well!

Ice cream is always a great way to end an evening!

Happy 39th to Dave!

The kids wanted to celebrate Daddy's birthday by playing putt-putt again...it's become a tradition - I believe this was the 3rd year in a row we've celebrated with mini-golf.

Because he had two softball games on his actual birthday, we celebrated the night before.

After putt-putt, we went to B-Dubs for dinner before heading home to sing & eat the cake they'd baked / decorated.

We did save the gifts for his actual birthday, though. Another tradition is shopping for his gifts at the Dollar Tree.  Lucy cracked herself up by getting him a plunger! She also got some cookies and a Gatorade, though.

Max was kind of thinking of himself while shopping for his dad - he got him a a cool water gun and a water shooter plus some Reese Cups (Max's favorite...Dave loves them, too).

I got him a golf shirt and a pair of golf shorts and Max couldn't resist modeling the shirt...pretty impressive that he got that thing tucked into his own shorts!
