January

We had a significant snowfall in January and tried to make the most of it, not knowing if we'd get another. We bundled up & stuck the sleds in the car and headed to "Daddy's old school" - NCC - to sled down the big hill.

The kids tried to make snowmen but it wasn't very pack-able snow and they didn't get too far with that.

Back home - warming up!

In January we also tested out a new gymnastics place in Wilder (though we still haven't enrolled). Ever since Skip-n-Flip abruptly closed, the kids - Max especially - have been asking to find a new class...but between soccer and basketball and now t-ball, there isn't a lot of free time anyway. But it was a fun Sunday afternoon!

Ema and I found a Groupon deal for tickets to Paw Patrol Live at the Aronoff and decided to take the boys. Lucy had recently been there for Shopkins Live so it was nice to be able to treat my guy to a similar adventure!  Both boys were completely captivated the entire time and us moms actually kind of enjoyed it, too - especially seeing Luke & Max loving it so much!

Mesmerized!

They passed out these pompoms when we got there.
Max kept calling his "my cheerleader."
Like if he dropped it: "I need to pick up my cheerleader!"

More from January:
Fans at Lucy's basketball game -
Aunt Amy was in town so she and Christy came and brought Paisley with them!

Studly dude relaxing
We paid a visit to my grandparents one evening - the kids loved running around and making them laugh and my grandparents enjoyed getting to see just a couple of kids at once rather than a whole noisy houseful of blurs running past!

We had a grown-ups night out, celebrating my brother Jeff's 35th birthday at the Cyclone's game.

Happy Birthday!

Goofy Maxy grabbed a candle off of the cake and instead of licking the icing off,
he took a bite of the candle!

A visit to the dentist! This was Max's second time but the first time he actually let them clean and count his teeth. He was too weirded out last time and they didn't push it but this time, he was all about it!

Parent Appreciation Day at school -
got to have lunch with my girl!
Per her request, I picked up food from Cracker Barrel

Fun hairdo!

We managed to avoid sickness in our house for the most part this winter - Dave had a bug in December / January and I had strep throat in February but the kids steered clear...until one day in January. The night before, Lucy didn't like what we had for dinner and refused to eat. In the morning, she kept saying her belly hurt. I told it she was probably just hungry and needed to eat but she wouldn't eat breakfast. She got ready and didn't bring it up again until we got to school and again, she said her belly hurt. I told her to get something to eat when she got inside. Within a half an hour, the school called to tell me she had thrown up and I had to go get her...oops.
I was worried she'd be embarrassed because she threw up in the cafeteria in front of everyone but luckily she's still too young for that. I got her home and settled on the couch and she kept asking for food and drinks...she never had a fever and ate normally all day so it may have been a fluke. She was pretty upset to miss her shot at another Perfect Attendance ribbon.

Forget the toy included in a happy meal! These two were thrilled with the box hats!

We love our library!

Lucy started basketball in December. Lots of her friends and soccer teammates were signing up, so I signed her up. She was not too pleased with me, "You didn't even ask me if I wanted to play!"
She sat on the bench pouting through the entire first practice which Dave took her to. I took her to the second one and she actually got out there and - gasp! - had fun!

Wearing the NKU basketball shirt Troy got her

Fun with Girl Scouts friends

Sometimes she's sweet, sometimes she's sour -
On the left, a cute selfie she took showcasing her 1st grader smile - a mix of baby teeth and growing-in permanent teeth.
On the right, the result of a mood. One day she was screaming about something - don't even remember what. She was just going a little crazy so I sent her to her room and suggested she write in her notebook about how she's feeling. She wrote, "I feel like this" followed by some angry scribbles...

This guy loves to clean the table!
