Lots of memories made this April -
Watching our soccer star enjoy her season, watching our boy grow so quickly before our eyes, Reds opening day, zoo trips, Easter happenings, and the debut of Max the t-ball star!
Speaking of Maxy, this big guy keeps getting more and more independent: "Me do it!"
Check out the inside-out PB&J he made for himself!
The kids got decked out in their Reds gear to cheer on the home team from school...while Dad worked and Mom went downtown to play with Jill & friends!
Cheers! |
Hooray for meeting up with the baby brother & Jess & their crew! |
Donut monsters |
Lucy was on Spring Break the week of April 3 so I took one day off work to try to cram in as much fun as we could. We started with donuts at Busken then headed to the zoo.
I didn't even notice the sandwich hanging out of her face until later when I went back to look at the pics! |
We went home for naps but then went to Skyline for dinner - a family favorite - and then to Tower Park. We wrapped up the day with ice cream cones!
Easter fun - we went to the egg hunt at the library. The one at our city building was on the same day so we didn't make it to both this year. They had fun at the library and got more than enough eggs/candy!
Afterward, we went to the park by Walnut Hills to play for a bit...Max had fun hanging around and Lucy was excited because her friend Harper happened to be there, too.
Another fun park day - this time at President's Park and with extra friends - Auntie Ema, Luke & Ellie and GranJan. They had plenty of fun sliding, swinging and climbing but all seemed to especially love "hiking" in the wooded area. Bossypants Lucy appointed herself the leader.
Later we celebrated Jessica's birthday and the girlies played with felt dolls together.
Hanging out across the street at the park with my babyguy while Daddy and Lucy were at gymnastics |
Excited about the Easter cards (and money!) they got from Grandma & Troy |

Wild animals |
More zoo fun - with our favorite crew
All four kids loved petting and brushing the goats |
Goofy kids had fun playing musical strollers!
Later that day, Max made himself quite the muddy puddle with a shovel and a bucket of water. He says he's just like Peppa Pig...
The kids each got to color Easter eggs at school (Walnut Hills) and pics were posted so I got to see! On another day, Max got to do another egg hunt with his classmates.
They got to color more eggs at Granny's house...Max especially loved it and only broke about 2/3 of the eggs he handled!
Easter craft at the library! |
They colored eggs one last time at home
Easter morning was lots of fun...they had to find their baskets (Lucy thought it was hysterical that hers was hidden in her American Girl doll's camper) and Max got straight to work eating his jelly beans (though he just simply called them "beans.")
The silly bunny brought them these fun straw glasses and I couldn't stop laughing watching the kids use them |
Another egg hunt in the backyard before it was time to get their fancy clothes on and head out to celebrate with family. I got Lucy's dress from Kohl's - it's the dress Belle wears at the end of the new Beauty & the Beast movie.
Selfie stick! |
Brunch buddies |
Yet another egg hunt...these kids can't get enough!
Next we went to Grandma & Troy's for more egg hunting and more selfie-stick fun!
Our final stop was to Granny & Great Grandpa's house for one last egg hunt (and dinner).
Silly straw water sharing before bed! |

This guy cracks us up! |
Maxy started t-ball in May! It was his first time being on a team and he was still 2 when the season began so we didn't know what to expect - or if it was too soon to have him playing organized sports - but he was super excited...and he really loved it! We will be out of town for the last game so unless they make up the one rain out, his season is over but he really enjoyed it and he even had some fans, too - Grandma & Troy, Aunt Nikki and Grandpa.
Tossing with his teammates! There was one other kid his size but all of the others were a bit bigger. The league is for 3-4 year olds so there were some young 3s (like him) and some old 4s but they all had fun together.
It was absolutely chaotic and hysterical but the coach and his infinite patience was amazing.
He's #1 |
The first time his coach lined him up to bat, he hit the ball the wrong way so the coach turned him around and hat him bat left-handed. In one game, he successfully batted right-handed at his first at-bat but then batted left-handed at his second at-bat. Maybe he's a switch-hitter!
He's not too aggressive with fielding but he wants and expects to "catch" some balls. One game, he never got a single ball so he threw his glove and started playing in the dirt instead...
When it was his turn to bat, he hit the ball and then ran to grab it! I guess he wanted to field a ball one way or another!
We had earned some paint bucks for having Lucy's party there so I took the kids to Paint & Bake one night to paint something. Lucy chose a cross and painted Jesus on it and Max put his hand print on a little plate.
