Begining to look a lot like Christmas (and my girl is 20 months old!)

Last weekend we put up our tree and Christmas decorations...I thought it might make things a lot easier if Lucy left during this process but her best friends (Grandma and GranJan) were already busy, out shopping with the other Black Friday crazies...
But I am happy (and probably lucky!) to report that Lucy was actually a very nice little helper elf!  As Dave put it, "I think Lucy likes it when weird things are going on in her house."  There were boxes and stuff everywhere and she enjoyed investigating.
I'd packed away her Christmas books, including Llama Llama Holiday Drama and she's very into her llama books lately so that was a totally jackpot for the Lucygirl (though her current favorite is still Llama Llama Time to Share).  She also discovered some holiday Little People and her Little People nativity set.
Time for a flashback Friday:

She liked helping me unpack all of the ornaments and was even pretty good at putting them on the tree...and we only had one casualty!  (There was a glass "rubber duck" inside a clear glass ball ornament and Lucy helped the ducky escape...)

Daddy was dying for her to put the angel on the tree but she was a little confused about the whole thing...they made it happen, though!

Angel down...

In the end, she was very proud of her handy-work:

YOUR BABY IS 87 WEEKS OLD

Your toddler may be engaging in more imaginary play - holding a toy phone up to a stuffed animal or doll’s ear, for instance, or having pretend meals. Most of this sort of play is still imitating actions rather than creating them (actual fantasy), but that will be a next step. Another indication that her imagination is developing: She’s starting to show that she realizes how other people feel - she can imagine herself in their shoes. And this signals the beginning of a gradual lessening of self-centeredness.

Lucy is 20 months old!
She continues to love her play phones (and continues to love our real phones even more...) and has been playing in her kitchen constantly...she loves stirring up a bowl filled with her necklaces and offering it to us to "eat."  Yum!

She now weighs 29 pounds and 2.5 ounces and is 32 and 3/4 inches tall!

She makes things hard but she makes things fun...she's at an age where she can - and does - play independently...but she's also a major daredevil and needs serious supervision...plus she likes to know where her mama is at all times!  Recently we were in the basement and I thought I could go over and do some laundry while she played...until I saw her trying to climb out of the front of her police car - head first.  The kid's insane!

She hung out with GranJan last night and when I came to get her, my mom commented that "her vocabulary is becoming quite extensive!"
It's true, she knows and says a lot of words...a lot of them sound similar and sometimes even Dave and I can't figure out what she's saying (though I am a little better at it than him at this point!) but some of my new favorite things she says are:
Hairbow (last night on the way from Cooper's house to GranJan's house, she removed the flower clip from her hair, held it up and announced "ha-bow!")
Santa, reindeer and snowman
Hammer (see/hear for yourself in the video below)
Llama (as I said, she has become quite obsessed with the Llama Llama books and asks for LlamaLlamaLlamaLlamaLlamaLlama)
Talia (her babysitter's daughter's name)
Pouch (she has associated GranJan's house with pouches, her favorite snack, because she tends to keep a stash in a Lucy-accessible cabinet and when I told Lucy we were heading over there last night, she kept repeating "pashhh")
Couch (where she likes to sit to read her Llama books...or, rather, have them read to her)
People (sounds a lot like the way she pronounces Cooper's name so we have been confused by this one before...it's used in reference to her Little People)
Pull, pull (she likes to grab our finger and pull, pull us around the house...and announce that she is "pull, pull"ing us...)
Pants (she just says it so funny / cute)
Airplane (she's said this one for awhile now but it's still awesome)
Ema (she likes to talk about her auntie a lot!)
Police car
Home (when we pull in the driveway each night, I say "We're...." and she says "Home!")
Bon Jan Lane (she does not say it well but she's trying!  When I ask her "what's our street?" she can answer with her version of "Bon Jan Lane"!

Thanksgiving: the trilogy

We had a very happy Thanksgiving, indeed!

Not only did we have three different celebrations this year, but we were lucky enough that they were all on separate days!

On Thanksgiving day, Lucy and I had planned to walk in the Turkey Day Race with Auntie Ema and GranJan, but sleepy little Lucygirl was still snoozing with her daddy so we ditched her...

We did the 6.2 miles in an hour and 40 minutes (with a bathroom break!) and were very pleased with ourselves and have vowed to make this a new tradition.

Later that day it was time to get ready and go to my Granny's house for dinner.
Looking cute...and she knows it!

Our family: Thanksgiving #1

Time to eat!

As usual, it took Lucy a little while to warm up when we first got there...she preferred to stay on my lap and take in the sights (32 people, lots of noise, tons of food, plenty of toys, etc.) for about a half an hour.  Soon enough she was digging into the toy box and once she spotted the high chair, it was "Me!  Eat!" repeatedly until we put her in the chair.
Once secured in her seat, she was ready!  Luckily I had come prepared with an applesauce cup for her because just as my grandpa began the prayer, Lucy started to get quite vocal...nothing a little applesauce couldn't fix!
I'd also brought her a fruit cup and by the time I made her a plate with the Thanksgiving staples, she was signalling "all done" - sigh...so we let her down after she ate ONE green bean, a scoop of corn and a tiny piece of turkey...

She had a great time playing with her friend Cleo as well as with Lucia, and - once the Readnours arrived - Lilly.

I found her giraffe print dress at the Gymboree outlet in Monroe quite awhile ago...maybe a year or longer ago, in fact, and knew right away it would make perfect Thanksgiving attire...the leg warmers were scored on ebay more recently.

What a great day!

Thanksgiving #2 came on Saturday...time to go to Grandma and Troy's house...all day, all Lucy could talk about was Amy and "dog" (Aunt Amy's dog, Lola).

Our Family: Thanksgiving #2
We had a good time relaxing at Grandma's house and Lucy knew she was the star of the show...she ran around like she owned the place and was sweet to Troy and to Great Grandma (and Amy and Grandma, of course)!

At dinner, we had more of the same story from Thursday...I'd brought a pouch "just in case" but she spotted it and demanded it...and that was basically all she ate...she asked for bread and asked me to cut it in half but I don't think she ever even took a bite...I think she managed to send down one little bite of turkey before she was "all done" and wanted down...

Later in the night, Troy was having some Jell-o...or at lease he thought he was going to have some Jell-o...instead, he ended up spoon-feeding two bowlsful to my crazy little gal...

I got her Happy Thanksgiving t-shirt on sale at Old Navy recently and the skirt was on clearance at Target...I had to make a last minute additional Old Navy run when I realized we did not have tights to match...but she ended up looking as super-cute as ever!

Our final Thanksgiving was on Sunday with the Stallkamps...and in true Stallkamp fashion, there wasn't a turkey in sight...pizza, baby!  And just to prove she's my child, it was the first "Thanksgiving feast" Lucy actually sat and scarfed down!  I'm pretty sure Uncle Jeff (and maybe some others) would disown her if she didn't like pizza...so I am proud to say my girl's a definite pizza lover!

Our family: Thanksgiving #3

Playing with her baby...and cousin Julie

She ran around this place like she owned it, too, having a blast!

My cousin Amy found her Notre Dame shirt at the Gap Outlet!  Great find!
She's had the denim skirt (from Old Navy) and the football leg warmers (which are getting a little short and probably need to be retired) and she looked mighty cute (as always)!

(Thanks for following us over to our new blog!)
