May memories

Puddle jumping
Lucy and I used to play in puddles fairly often but I really can't remember the last time we did it...but some recent May rain provided the perfect opportunity to get out there and stomp around.  She squished her rain boots in some extra muddy puddles and made me take a picture to send to Daddy - she thought he would "freak out" and he did, which made her happy!

Maxy
This little cutie is just a goofy little wild man!
He'll walk into the room and grab the remote and start changing channels - it's funny, Lucy never did that and still doesn't.  I have a feeling he's going to be the bossier one of my two kids...I've always thought Lucy was pretty bossy but she tends to be timid, especially in situations where she's outside her comfort zone, but this guy just dives right into everything...

Just playing with a couple of toys with Charlie at his birthday party...

Lately he's had opportunities to visit Tammy and Talia and Dominic - he used to go there regularly last year but this year he's been partying with Ms. Shelly & the crew 5 days a week.

Lucy
I was very proud of Lucy recently...
I got en email inviting us to a "Walk with Me" day at St. Joe's - she and I could go visit the current kindergarten class and she'd be paired up with a kindergartner and would participate in class while I observed from the back of the room.  I ultimately figured she'd just cling to my leg the whole time and get nothing out of it (except maybe more anxiety about her new school) but another mom talked me into it.  She has an older girl with whom she went to the Walk with Me day and said it really helped and she planned to go to one with her younger daughter, Emma, who's in Lucy's class at Kids & Cribs.  Lucy and I didn't end up going on the same day as Emma but I think she enjoyed it after all.  She was nervous, for sure, but didn't cry or cling - look at her right up front with the rest of the kids and the teacher!
We were there for about an hour and a half and she played games with them, had snack with them and made a craft with them.  She participated in everything and moved around the room without even looking to me first.

Mother's Day 2016
I got to go to Lucy's school one morning before school for "Muffins with Mom" - we both love this little event so much!

Working on a Mother's Day gift for Grandma
Lucy had some fun Mother's Day gifts for me - a silly cookbook she and her classmates put together and a cute questionnaire:

We went to Barleycorn's for brunch...Max was a little moody but we had a nice time and some yummy food.

Later in the day, we went to GranJan & Grandpa's house to celebrate with some other fabulous mamas.

Dave and my little artists also made me a cute little bag with very special art - a Maxy hand print garden on one side and a Lucy hand print bouquet on the other side:

Mommy's birthday 2016
Lucy always called me Mama (until about a year ago) but Max has mostly called me Mommy.  Now Lucy calls me a mix of Mom and Mommy...and Dani when she's feeling silly.
On my birthday, they let me sleep in and Lucy had the idea of serving me breakfast in bed!
Lucy had a card for me, too, and each kid had colored in a Shopkins coloring page for me.

That afternoon, the kids hung out with GranJan while Dave and I went to see a movie and then we celebrated that night with an ice cream cake.  Max loves birthdays now and liked helping blow out the candles with me and Lucy!

Preschool graduation!
Here's a picture of her (on the left) on her "first day" of preschool and (on the right), her "last day" of preschool.
On May 13, they had a little ceremony where she and her classmates performed a few songs and then the soon-to-be kindergartners wore caps and gowns and "graduated."  Adorable!!!

Poor Maxy wasn't feeling his best that night

Summer lovin'
Summer is right around the corner and we're loving the fun that goes with it...Daddy' softball games, "GranJan's big pool," dining outside, parades...

April 24, 2016
The kids and I went to President's Park with GranJan, Grandpa, Luke and Ellie
We all met at GranJan & Grandpa's house and walked over - Lucy rode her scooter

These two were worn out!!

Girl power!

April fun

I've obviously gotten pretty far behind on my blogging...
I'll start with a cute pic of each of my babies...Lucy and her doll, Isabelle, got matching pajamas for her birthday and they looked adorable!
Max loves driving the police car in the basement and often wears Lucy's Minnie Mouse ears while doing so.

Max has become quite the artist, just like his big sister.
He's actually not quite as messy as she tended to be at his age (she usually ended up painting her entire body after she finished with the paper) but he did a number on the chair - I'd protected the table with a table cloth but I couldn't stop him in time from putting his painty hands all over the chair!

Bath time immediately followed art time...

More cute cuties...
One Sunday, GranJan made cupcakes with bright red icing and Max went to town!  My dad asked him, "Why so serious?" (comparing him to the Joker from The Dark Knight).
One day in the car, I started talking to Lucy and she said I was interrupting her because she was on the phone (holding an imaginary phone up to her ear)...

During Spirit Week at school, Lucy got a chance to wear her Maleficent costume again (on character day)...she was so happy!

Sunrock Farm visited our library in April and the kids got to pet and brush some animals:

Park fun!  These two love Tower Park!

A few more pictures of my wild man:

Lucy's 5 year stats from her appointment with Dr. Brokaw:
She weighs 44 pounds even which puts her at 74%
She is 43 inches tall which puts her at 58%
She's perfect!

Her appointment wasn't until 9:45 so we had time to go to "the cookie store" for a sweet breakfast first!
