Halloweenies

October was jam-packed full of fun...Besides all of the fun mentioned in my previous post, we had trips to the library, we painted pumpkins at home, Max saw his first movie in the theater, we we had some fun park days and we carved pumpkins.

They made and painted bird houses at the library...I finally hung them up but haven't gotten any bird seed for them...maybe in the Spring...

PB&J!

At one of the pumpkin patches we went to, they each got to choose a small pumpkin as part of the admission cost...we had lots of fun painting them!  Lucy's turned out pretty scary!

Tower Park fun...Dave used to take Lucy to Tower Park fairly often in the summers when she was little but I hadn't been many times...not sure why - it's an awesome park and we always have so much fun!  And we usually run into friends we know there, too.
On this particular day, we brought our lunch with us and ate it there which these kids love to do.

The first movie Lucy saw in the theater was Frozen (and GranJan & Uncle Jason sneaked her off to the theater without me knowing) but I got to accompany Max to his first movie.  We went with GranJan and Lukey to see The Secret Life of Pets.  My Max was excited that the main dog in the movie had the same name is him!  Of course, the most exciting part for all three of them was the Icees!

Lucy thinks I am a major creeper for taking pictures of them sleeping...sometimes, she scrolls through the pics on my phone and when she sees one like this she rolls her eyes at me and says something like, "You did this again?!"  Too cute to resist!

I love these silly skeletons!

He was my date at the mall one night and we got Auntie Anne's pretzels
He was shoveling them in and loving them and asked - with his mouth full -
"Are these donuts?"

At the park at the city building...Wheeeeee!

She used to refuse to touch the goop but last year and this year, she was all about it!

Halloween was super-fun...Lucy had school but it was a party all day and she got to wear a costume - she chose to wear last year's Malificent costume - and visit Bishop Brossart High School to trick-r-treat.  I picked her up from school that day so we could have enough time to get ready and go to Aunt Terri & Uncle John's house for trick-r-treating with friends.

Cutest little monkey and bumblebee ever!

October fun

Fall is such fun!  We love going to as many pumpkin patches as possible, HalZooween, Jack-O-Lantern Junction...all of it!

Early in October, we went to Tower Park for a Touch-a-Truck event and invited Auntie Ema and her kids to join us...the kids had the most fun playing in the TANK bus!

They also really enjoyed climbing trees and slides, playing in the park, and sitting inside of a police car!

We went to the zoo one nice day for some trick-or-treating and invited Grandma to join us.  Besides the goodies from the treat stations, I think Lucy & Max's favorite part was the peacock that was hanging around the picnic area where we ate lunch, begging for food.  They were both happy to share!  Of course, they also loved the pink ice cream Grandma treated them to!

Lucy is in Girl Scouts and has really enjoyed it.  They had a Halloween dance which gave her a chance to break in her new Jasmine costume Aunt Donna bought her.  I took a ton of pictures that night of her and her silly friends but I'll just post these of my little Princess Jasmine:

She had so much fun running around and danging and eating pizza and cupcakes.  She was a little shy initially but broke out of her shell very quickly...such a fun night!

On October 2, we went to Kinman Farms in Burlington - me & my kids, GranJan & Luke, and Donna, Ashley & Chloe.
Scary faces!

Hayride!

Hayride!

They all loved the corn maze!  Corn mazes make me a little nervous so I sent my kids in with GranJan & Cleo but later, my girl talked me into heading back in with her...

Maxy had so much fun walking around the patch and finding the perfect pumpkin to stick inside his Superman hat!

On October 23, the kids and I headed to a pumpkin patch close to our house - Neltner's Farm - for a couple of hours.  They were so cute in their matching monster shirts!  They fed goats, rode ponies, and drug me into another dang corn maze...we even stayed and ate lunch and listened to music - big fun!

The next weekend was overflowing with Halloween fun...on Thursday night, the kids and I went to the Pumpkin Walk in Fort Thomas...this was our second year going to it.  The have the bike trail in Tower Park completely lined with jack-o-lanterns carved by Ft. Thomas residents.

The next night, there was a Trunk-or-Treat event at Lucy's new school...she wanted to wear her Jasmine costume again and we were able to coax Max into dressing up, too - in a Ninja Turtle costume I'd picked up at a consignment shop.  They had so much fun running around the parking lot and getting candy...they even had a little hayride set up...it was dark so they thought it was spooky and soooooo cool!

Spooky hayride!
That next day - Saturday - we went to the Highland Heights city building for their annual Halloween party.  Max wore his Abu costume for the first time!  Lucy got the Jasmine costume from Donna and decided she wanted Maxy to be the monkey from Aladdin to coordinate with her.  I bought the Old Navy monkey costume from eBay and had my mom "Abu it up."  It turned out perfect!

We got to eat snacks and color pumpkin pages and dance to spooky music before the costume contest - Max won 1st prize in his age category!  He got some treats and a $25 gift card!  Lucy won second prize in her age category - treats and a $15 gift card!

This is her "I can't believe I didn't win FIRST place!" face

Hayride!

We wrapped up the weekend with a trip to Jack-o-Lantern Junction with GranJan, Auntie Ema and Lukey.
This guy fell asleep on the way there
and kept on snoozing for the first half hour or so...

Lucy and Luke had lots of fun rushing through the train display to the indoor playground where they rode the little train, climbed and went down the slide.

Max woke up but still wasn't ready to ride the outdoor train...instead, we saw L&L off!

Each treat station had a sign instructing us to just take one...
this little red-headed rebel took exactly
two from each tub...

Pumpkin telephone?

Corn mazes have nothing on this mirror maze!
I was sweating bullets by the time my two little partners and I made our escape...

Somebody didn't want to pose for a pic...
