Happy (almost) Thanksgiving!

I wanted to get a pic of Lucy in her cute little turkey shirt before school today and she was totally up for it...somehow, I didn't realize until later that her eyes were closed in both photos!

Oops...
I asked her what a turkey says and she said, "Cock-a-doodle-doo!"
Not quite...

Check out her note from school recently...she's thankful for her mom and dad!  What a sweetie!

Over the weekend Lucy and I played school in her room...we took turns being the teacher and being in "circle time":

Look at her holding up the book so her "class" can see the pictures!  She even asked, "Can everybody see?"
She also practiced nap time while I was cleaning up in the gray room.  I cracked up when I looked at her...this was the first time she'd actually unmade the bed and snuggled under the covers during a pretend nap (or any kind of nap in this bed - typically she lays on top of the comforter and covers up with her own blanket.

This girl can be kind of bossy...surprised?  We went to daddy's school for his cross country awards dinner last week and eventually she and her dolls and toys wanted to play in the hallway.
Can you spot the Lucy?

She said, "Follow me.  Stay on the yellow path.  Got it?"
My girl and I did a little shopping at Kohl's on Saturday and they had a non-scary visit with Santa...it was actually a green screen and after downloading an app, I had Lucy stand in front of it and took her picture...which I was able to turn into this:
She's kinda weird...my mom especially likes that she's holding a hanger...and I guess I wasn't supposed to let anything not protected by the green screen (like the inch of floor...) in the pic...but yeah, she totally saw Santa (and didn't even know it) without crying!

Relaxin'
She was so excited when I pulled these pjs out on Saturday night...
so excited, in fact, that she did not take them off until SUNDAY night when it was time for bath!

Lucy lately

Some of this wasn't so "lately..."
Oops, sorry about that.
About a month ago we carved pumpkins!  Dave was dying to see Lucy's face when she helped "scoop the goop" but it just wasn't in the cards...she did NOT want to touch that stuff!  He even tried to force the issue (which is funny since he won't scoop, either!) but she just wasn't having it!

I am the official goop-scooper in our family!

Lucy requested Dave carve a Frankenstein and she helped me choose to carve a cat

We went to the city building for their Halloween party and Lucy was excited at the opportunity to wear a costume...she chose her mermaid costume.  I'd found her Snow White costume online (Ebay!) and later saw this one, too, and couldn't resist...Lucy was pretty happy, too!

She also got to wear jewelry!  GranJan got her a set of princess rings and earrings so Lucy could be very fancy!

She even got to wear her Halloween costume to school one day...and Daddy was feeling jealous of all her fun so he decided to wear a costume to school that day, too!

Once at school, I wanted to get a picture of Lucy with her friend Skylar, since Skylar was dressed as Cinderella...but Skylar was busy playing and wouldn't come over and Lucy was indifferent to her surroundings...but a bunch of her classmates really wanted to have their picture taken!

Later that night, we went to Aunt Terri's house to trick-or-treat with friends...the weather reports were not looking good and I was bummed for my girl...on her first Halloween, she had her very first fever and "sick" appointment at the doctor.  We suited her up in her caterpillar costume and went outside for a few minutes in our neighborhood but that was about it.  On her second Halloween, it was freezing cold and raining and she was confused about why we were outside in such conditions...and due to the cold, we had to abandon her planned Minnie Mouse costume because it was very thin.  Instead, she wore her sleeping-bag-like Elmo costume and shivered in her stroller while I helped her retrieve a few pieces of soggy candy before seeking shelter.  I knew she would love Halloween if only she could have a good weather version!

But we got very lucky!  It was windy but warm and her modified Snow White costume (tights and a long-sleeved shirt underneath) was perfect!  The rain held off for 30-40 minutes which is really all the longer a two-and-a-half year old needs anyway!  She got to walk with her friend, Lucia the pumpkin, and she definitely enjoyed running from house to house to get "treats!"

Even though she's not showing it in this picture, Lucy had a really fun evening!

On the day before Halloween, she had yet another opportunity to wear her costume...at dance class!

And one last time at Uncle Jeff & Auntie Ema's Halloween party, which she attended for a bit:

She called me the "mean queen"

Grandma and Troy took Lucy once she was done showing off her costume (and letting her babydoll try out all of Luke's stuff!) and on the way to meet them, she told me she did not like my costume and told me never to wear it again...ouch...

We had fun playing outside one day...Lucy's quite the interesting helper when it comes to raking / bagging leaves...

And on three consecutive trips to Kroger (once with Mom, twice with Dad), we found a kid cart for Lucy to push and she was in heaven!

The time she and I went, it was right after getting a hair cut.  She was as good as ever (except for her very first time at the salon - where she sat on my lap and sobbed throughout the entire 5-minute cut - she's always perfect...she sits very, very still and does not make a peep), but the stylist kept trying to engage her.  I laughed and told her she could talk all she wanted to Lucy but the crazy gal would never respond...though she'd talk about it for the rest of the day and pretend to be the stylist and cut my hair (which she did).  She's so weird!

A couple of weeks ago, on Friday, November 8, I got a call from Lucy's school not long after I'd arrived at work.  Miss Megan was calling to say Lucy had just thrown up - more than once!  I quickly left work to go get her and when I walked in, the director was wheeling a mop bucket past me and said, "She just got sick again" (embarrassing!)...I walked in and she was happy to see me and reached out her arms for me to pick her up.  Right away she asked, "Can me go home and put my pj's back on and rest on couch?"
Of course!
I got to see the yet-to-be-mopped puddle but it was totally clear...it was obviously mucus that needed out of her belly...she'd had a cold/cough most of the week...
She'd thrown up several times at school but nothing more at home.
In fact...

Soooo sick!
Within about an hour, she was done "resting" (aka loving life because I let her have her B, and watching her shows) and wanted to play Play-Doh (and the she pretended the container was a phone and called GranJan (probably to say, "I totally faked sick and got to leave school!  How cool am I?!")
She did manage to give me her cold...and get me to use my last sick day at work to come home and watch tv and play Play-Doh!

This past weekend we were able to enjoy a little more outdoor play thanks to some warmer weather!

"Watch this!"

Isn't her new jacket super cute?!  The light jacket she'd been wearing is a Carter's 24 month that I'd picked up at Once Upon a Child.  It's getting a little small so I've been on the look out for a new windbreaker but haven't found a good enough deal.  I finally found one online at Old Navy and ordered it and showed it to her and she said, "No!"  She didn't like it and wouldn't wear it!  Isn't she a little young for that?!  She wouldn't even let me try it on her so I took it back.  While shopping for Christmas gifts, I found this one at Crazy 8 and loved it...and hoped she would, too...whew!  She likes it!

Remember when I let her paint her pumpkin in the driveway?  Only she decided to paint herself instead of the pumpkin?  Well that pumpkin had been sitting outside ever since so on Sunday, I thought I'd let her give it another try...the take-two results weren't all that different...

Skyline is still her favorite!

Lately she's been very silly and pretty sweet, too!
She still usually only dances for about half of dance class...but she always looks super cute!

She's figured out how to take pics of herself...

Dave totally thought they were taking a cute pic.
He had no idea *someone* was being wacky until I showed him the photo!

Sweet little sleepy-head!

Lucy-isms that have made us smile:
After watching too much Aladdin, she's asked each of us, "Do you trust me?" while reaching her hand out to us...
In the evenings, she likes to sit in the bean bag chair...except she calls it her "beach ball."
She's been using the word "sure" lately which is just so cute!

We're making advancements in the potty-training area!  She actually tries at school now!  Previously she'd gone as far as to tell Miss Megan, "I not a big girl" and would never even sit/try...for the past couple of weeks, she sits multiple times per day (though she's yet to "go" at school) - but it's a big advancement!
She's started going potty at home regularly and recently has even told us a couple of times that she has to go!  She used to cry (at least for a few seconds) when we put her on the pot at home but hasn't done that in some time!
We're getting there!
