Lucy lately

The girl has been having a lot of fun lately...she's been to the zoo twice more since my last post - once with Fawn and Cooper (who she hung out with for half days while Daddy taught summer school) and once with me.  We've blown up the pool and having being spending a lot of time in the backyard.  Oh, and Lucy had another first:
Yep, she went to her very first Red's game!  We kept telling her we were going to a baseball game but I am pretty sure she was still picturing Daddy's softball game so she was a bit overwhelmed - in a good way - when we got there.  Once she got dressed she kept saying, "Me a baseball girl" especially after I pointed out that the buttons on her dress looked like baseballs!

When we got there, we climbed (and climbed and climbed) up to our seats.  She took in the sights and got in and out of her seat repeatedly until her excitement could no longer be contained in our seats.  She lasted about an inning.  So down we went...we checked out the Fan Zone where she climbed on the playground for a bit and then played on the little field and basically just ran all around the place.

Uncle Jason said, "She's even cute as a Gapper" when I text him this pic

And what Red's game would be complete - especially for a kid! - without a helmet sundae?!  She got the helmet sundae and Dave and I got ice cream cones.  As she was scooping her treat out by the spoonful, she intently watched us eat ours - and then decided that she didn't need a spoon, either...

Before the game, she was singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame!" at the top of her lungs...we made it to the 7th inning stretch (but not much beyond that) but she didn't sing along to one of her favorite songs...

Fun at the zoo - she got to feed the birds and brush the goats!

 Happy girl!!

We went to my granny and grandpa's house on Father's Day (and Lucy's daddy met up with us after he played golf with his daddy) and due to vacations and other commitments, it was a pretty small crowd.  Lucy and Sam were the only kids there!  They played pretty well together and had a good time:

 ************************************

She still primarily calls herself "me" but has started using "I" lately.  If I asked her a question that she can't answer - "I not know."  So her grammar still isn't perfect!  But it's improving!

I love the way she speaks!  Some of my favorites are:
Lollipop = wah-wah pop-pop
Water = ah-way
You're welcome = you're well-pum
Gummy bears = dummy bez
Crazy = kay-zee
Wacky = wah-tee
GranJan = JanJan
Oopsie = oopies (though she can say this one correctly now, we still try to encourage her original pronunciation because it was so dang cute!)

Lucy cracks me up - if I call her Lucy Meyers or Lucy Claire Meyers she says, "No!  Me Lucy girl!"  We've called her that so much, she thinks her full name is simply Lucy girl!
Lately she has reminded us again and again that she's a big girl and that she's growing up!  She loves to point out that she's a big girl!

She needed my sunglasses...even though we had hers with us...

We walked up to Ejay's one night to get her haircut...
she showed zero emotion during the haircut but was all smiles on the way home

This kid loves sandwiches!
The first time we went to Subway, I started to peel away some of the bread
and she almost lost her mind...oopies...I should have known - she loves bread!!

She also needed this umbrella...

Sweet Lucy

On Saturday, May 18, Lucy and I went to Louisville to watch Daddy and his girls run their way to second place in the state!  Hooray to Coach Daddy and the NCC girl's track team!
We left home early enough that morning that Lucy slept just about the entire drive down which was perfect.  She was happy to see her daddy when we got there:

We walked around and watched a few events but by then Lucy had spotted the playground and kept asking to go play.  She had TONS of fun!

We tried to leave in time for nap but she fell asleep on the walk to the car but woke back up as I was transferring her.  She was still a very good girl on the way home, finally falling asleep briefly when we were almost home.

We have a 2 year old on our hands so of course we see our share of tantrums and deal with some attitude issues.  But really, Lucy has been so cute and funny lately.  She lets me take her picture more easily lately and likes be silly for the camera:

Lately, we have been taking her baby for a walk most evenings.  I love when she makes her baby (or other toys) "talk."  She changes her voice a little...we were walking recently and she was pushing her baby in the stroller.  She stopped and said "Mama!" in her "baby's voice" and turned to me and said, "Me are her's mama."  So she checked on her baby and whispered and soothed her and then we resumed our walk...she's such a good little mama!

Just this past week, I've noticed Lucy saying "you're welcome" when she's thanked.  Dave said he'd heard it before when I thought she'd said it for the first time but no matter when it started, it's very cute and sweet!  She can be such a polite and nice little lady!  Sometimes when she bumps us she laughs and says "sorry!"  Super cute!

On Memorial Day, we went to the Dayton / Bellevue parade and Lucy had fun running around and catching "prizes" (candy) to put in her bag.  I wanted to get a pic of her festive outfit but she was too wound up to stop long enough for that.  I did end up with a couple of cute shots, though:
Hair bow from Cleo, sunglasses from Auntie, tank dress on loan from RC

A few weeks ago, I had a nasty cold that really drained me - to the point of taking time off of work.  But on the day I'd stayed home from work, Dave had a commitment at school so the girl and I were on our own.  Luckily she was content to sit on the front steps and pour water on our feet for over an hour:

This started because she was eating her dinner - pasta salad - on the steps, and she accidentally knocked the bowl over.  I went in to get the pitcher of water to wash it away and she said "Me do it!"  I filled the pitcher up again and again and she was a happy camper.

Lucy is officially a big girl now.  First of all, I was updating some information on Pampers.com and it made me select her age range.  My options were infant, toddler, and preschooler and it would NOT let me select toddler once I'd input her birth date!  She's a preschooler??
Second, I had her carseat turned around in my car...she's so happy!  She was content to be rear-facing and there was a mirror strapped to the back of the seat so she and I could still see one another via that mirror and my rear-view mirror...but Lucy has realized what she's been missing!

************************************************************

We got the water table back out recently so she's been loving life...now she likes to use the hose to fill it up herself...the other night, before I could stop her, she'd completely saturated her feet / gym shoes ("Me takin' bath!").  Those puppies took awhile to dry (which is why we usually try to do Crocs while playing with water).
See what I mean?!  Such a little sweetie!!

She definitely loves playing in water...one evening after we took turns squirting one another with the hose, I hooked up the sprinkler.  She'd run over to it and squeal then yell, "Run away, run away!" and run to the other side of the yard.  We did this repeatedly - and I had to do everything she did (per her instructions).

Lucy and I have also been walking to Daddy's (and other friends'!) softball games on Thursday nights.  Possibly because she was wearing a white shirt, Lucy got dirtier than ever before at last week's game - but she had so much fun in the process:

************************************************************

On her last day at Dominic & Talia's, she woke up really early...maybe out of excitement?  She was in the best mood and just wanted to get up and play and begin her day.
I had to get some pics on the way out - doesn't she look like such a big girl carrying her lunch bag??

She's such a cheeser!
When we got there, Lucy was standing beside me, still holding her lunch bag.  Tammy laughed and said, "Well this is new!"
She had an adventurous day with her friends - playing in a pool, a sandbox and on a trampoline!

************************************************************

Lucy and Daddy's summer of fun has begun!  Next week he starts summer school so she'll spend half of her day with Auntie & co. or Fawn and Cooper but they packed a lot of fun into this week.  They went to at least two different parks, exercised together at the gym at Daddy's school, played drums at Daddy's school, and went to the zoo!  Lucy's going to talk her Daddy into taking her back to Recreations Outlet once summer school is over, too!

The park at the city building was closed for a long time
and here's one girl who is very happy that it has reopened!!

Knowing she was going to the zoo, she chose to wear her zebra shirt!

She touched a turtle!

************************************************************

She's a sweetie!

She's been very clingy lately but not in a bad way...in a very loving, can't-get-enough-hugs kind of way!  We love it!
