Snow day!

St. Nick paid Lucy a visit!  We hung our stockings in the basement with care and she was pretty excited to head down there to check out what was left for her.

She got a book and some stickers, a little bit of candy, new Santa hair bows and a Tiana princess figure...and she was pretty darn excited!

Later that week...it snowed!!!!  Lucy and daddy got to stay home from school one day and the next day, we all bundled up and went sled riding!

Lucy likes to eat the snow!

She loved going down the hill - she went down several times with mama and several times with daddy but she especially enjoyed throwing snowballs!

Donna told us about a new pottery painting place she'd spotted across from St. Joe's - Paint and Bake Ceramics - so we thought we'd check it out.  Lucy painted several beautiful ornaments for our Christmas tree!

The day we went to retrieve our masterpieces, she wanted to paint more!
(I went alone to fetch the second set!)

Auntie Ema posted a supercute pic of Luke on Instagram all surrounded in Christmas lights and we couldn't resist stealing the idea!

This silly girl always keeps us laughing.
Sometimes she answers my requests with, "Yes, your majesty," and she called Dave "your highness" recently.  She watches too many princess shows/movies!
Over dinner she's always asking us about our days, "So, how's yours day been-in?" is how it comes out!
The other day, she told Dave, "Chicken nuggets live in the freezer."
At school in the mornings when Miss Florence is in there, she likes to tease the kids.  She always asks Lucy for bites of her breakfast and one morning Lucy told her, "sorry Charlie!"

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a very happy Thanksgiving, and hope you did, too!
That morning, Jan and I officially made the Thanksgiving Day walk a tradition by doing it for the second straight year...and we beat our time, too!  We had fun freezing our butts off out there!

While mama was away, daddy and Lucy were busy with our famous turkey cookies - they baked them and gave them eyes and I got to help with the finishing touches when I got home.

Our picky eater turned her nose up at most of the Thanksgiving feast offerings at Granny's house that afternoon but she had her fill of rolls (and acting silly with them):
Crazy sparkly turkey outfit from GranJan

She had fun with her cousins playing at Granny and Great-Grandpa's house on Thursday.

On Saturday we had a second celebration - at Grandma and Troy's house!
She didn't improve upon her eating but again, had a great time.

That weekend, Lucy and I went to McDonald's where she had her first ever happy meal!  She was pretty pumped to find a prize in her lunch!  We went into the play area after we ate but she's still a little too timid to climb up inside (though she enjoys running around in there and "hiding" from me at times).  She knew exactly what to do when she saw the cubby at the entrance - she took her shoes off right away and stuck them inside.

On the day after Thanksgiving, we put up our Christmas decorations!

We even put up a little tree in her room this year!

Christmas cuties

Our elf on the shelf made his debut and Lucy chose to name him EJ...
We read the story and tried to explain what he was here for but the mention of Santa potentially setting foot into her house makes her a little nervous...

Some of EJ's antics:

She never got totally into the whole elf thing...finding him was never very exciting to her and she seemed scared to touch him.  Usually once she spotted him, she pointed him out and told us, "Put him back!"  His usual perch was on the entertainment stand so he could watch over her and she always wanted him to get back to where he belonged.

One morning, EJ was hiding in her shoe...and apparently Lucy was NOT in the mood for his sh*t...that was a brutal morning.  EJ's hiding spot put Lucy in a MOOD and the rest of the morning (finishing getting ready, getting out the door, drop off at school) was no fun at all and EJ never hid again...maybe next year things will be a bit different...

Daddy's outdoor decorations made her happy, though!

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving!

I wanted to get a pic of Lucy in her cute little turkey shirt before school today and she was totally up for it...somehow, I didn't realize until later that her eyes were closed in both photos!

Oops...
I asked her what a turkey says and she said, "Cock-a-doodle-doo!"
Not quite...

Check out her note from school recently...she's thankful for her mom and dad!  What a sweetie!

Over the weekend Lucy and I played school in her room...we took turns being the teacher and being in "circle time":

Look at her holding up the book so her "class" can see the pictures!  She even asked, "Can everybody see?"
She also practiced nap time while I was cleaning up in the gray room.  I cracked up when I looked at her...this was the first time she'd actually unmade the bed and snuggled under the covers during a pretend nap (or any kind of nap in this bed - typically she lays on top of the comforter and covers up with her own blanket.

This girl can be kind of bossy...surprised?  We went to daddy's school for his cross country awards dinner last week and eventually she and her dolls and toys wanted to play in the hallway.
Can you spot the Lucy?

She said, "Follow me.  Stay on the yellow path.  Got it?"
My girl and I did a little shopping at Kohl's on Saturday and they had a non-scary visit with Santa...it was actually a green screen and after downloading an app, I had Lucy stand in front of it and took her picture...which I was able to turn into this:
She's kinda weird...my mom especially likes that she's holding a hanger...and I guess I wasn't supposed to let anything not protected by the green screen (like the inch of floor...) in the pic...but yeah, she totally saw Santa (and didn't even know it) without crying!

Relaxin'
She was so excited when I pulled these pjs out on Saturday night...
so excited, in fact, that she did not take them off until SUNDAY night when it was time for bath!
